Open Space To Share Proposals For Network Structure & Strategy

Feels like a great time to really think about the different layers of Greenpill Network and formalize some things. Gotta figure out what structure and verbiage we can all basically agree on and some mechanisms with which we can build out from there. The core group of Chapter/Guild Stewards is pretty stable at this point and we’re pretty damn aligned, so I’m really excited and optimistic that we can navigate this transition and then continue to decentralize from there. @explorience nailed it, Greenpill is a purpose aligned network of small autonomous teams. Fully agree with everyone in this thread that we need very polished documentation to ensure that everyone is on the same page. I can’t remember who said it in Season 9 Episode 1 of the Greenpill Podcast but more or less a super precise outline of roles and mission statement was cited as the reason for great coordination within a local volunteer based non-profit. Not that simple but we just gotta write it all out. Agree with @Abhitant 's framing of Ethereum Localism and prioritizing onboarding normies. Greenpill should provide a pathway deep down all the rabbit holes but we need to be able to explain what Greenpill means in the simplest of terms.

Very important that we figure out exactly how to make the most of Gravity DAO and SuperBenefitDAO. Got a call tomorrow to discuss with a bunch of people from all sides, fingers crossed we can plan out how best to make these two processes operate in tandem. Huge shoutout to those communities, @Coi and @explorience and everybody else making it happen. Through both we need to create resources and artifacts that everyone can continue to benefit from and build off of, and helps us document/transition in a cohesive way. They should largely be opt in commitments but we can figure out certain aspects that are mandatory for Stewards/core contributors who want to take a more active roll in architecting Greenpill 4.0. So maybe the full Gravity DAO cohort is not required but a couple a-sync workshops can be to really loop everyone together. And as @afo has said we could ask all Chapters/Guilds to outline their “Purpose, Practice, Progress” from SuperBenefit.

Greenpill Network is the Chapters, Guilds, Pods with their own vibes and priorities but also the broad open spaces of the Discord/Telegram, weekly/monthly community calls, social accounts like X/Farcaster, Greenpill.Network, the podcast, and the fabric that connects it all (funds, human relationships, network effects). All a part of a still somewhat disconnected funnel that people fall into for various reasons. Our community members have an incredibly wide set of interests, goals, experience and understanding of things. Some people are building projects and looking for feedback, help or users. Others are contributing to the different Greenpill Network layers or looking to learn or educate, and some are just curious enough to follow. Plus their focus is on a bunch of different places so to an extent we also need to smoothly share info across all our channels and the multitude of telegram groups/other places that we’re connected to. Having such a broad scope is kinda dangerous but ideally we can distribute/automate effectively with a super clear documentation and cell structure. Having things be so decentralized makes coordination more difficult but it also makes our community more anti-fragile and pluralistic so the harder path feels like a worthwhile one.

We have scaled to a nice sized group of Greenpill Stewards and active community members, who we can still certainly better coordinate with. Beyond that Regen Coordination is such a high impact group of like minded friends that we should focus on connecting with even more as well. Think we just gotta embrace the uncertainty through these early years and try our best to take care of each other while we aren’t exactly swimming in abundance. Feels like the good stuff will really continue to compound but it won’t be an easy or short journey to get exit velocity. We’ll get there though.

We definitely need to better define what it means to be an active Chapter, Guild and Pod, how to become one, what requirements exist for Stewards and Pod Mods, what benefits/governance rights those rolls grant, how contribution based reputation plays into things, how to build the connection between the other leads/contributors within all the cells and the broader Network, how to handle issues if they arise, etc etc. All in a way that doesn’t burn anybody out, somewhat seamlessly elevates the structures that are finding success, boosts the people who actually want to and are capable of contributing, and functions in a very capital efficient and data driven manner with oodles of social and intellectual capital transfer. Each container/cell needs some level of leadership structure that at a minimum is a couple people interested in that specific thing. They need to understand how to engage with a whole range of people in a way that helps the individual based on their own journey, the organization itself and the broader regen/refi/public goods/blockchain/technology/localism/commoning/DeSci, environment etc etc world.

A rough framework for Greenpill Network already exists to an extent as reflected in the Charmverse documentation and some hub posts (like this and this). Here is the “Greenpill Improvement Proposal Template” fyi. The New Chapter Onboarding flow can be more permissionless at the start but with clear requirements and permissioned layers that opens up greater benefits, endorsement from the Network and financial access, all of which can also be tied to impact created and time weighted. I’m into @alwynvanwyk 's ideas on this. Maybe we should also have a process for someone to become a Network Steward who isn’t already a Steward of a Chapter/Guild. Maybe we could have a way to elevate highly respected individuals who are incredibly mission aligned and would strengthen our decision making ability if they had some level of governance power without the requirement of the heavier Steward onboarding process and commitment of Stewarding a Chapter/Guild.

The Keiretsu concept that @kaz mentioned in his proposal about a Brand Council makes a lot of sense with the DAO of DAO structure that exists. And also agree that we should make an effort to continue to operate more like a Mutual Aid Network.

Some more things to keep in mind:

Feel pretty strongly that Greenpill should focus on curation of resources, communities and tools for the purpose of mapping/educating/onboarding and of course to inspire some collaboration. Having all the different cells and wide reach outside of Greenpill makes it easier to get a nice wide scope. The Network and all it’s cells can fairly seamlessly act as a marketing/onboarding wing of a lot of the cool shit happening around us. I’d also love a simpler way to better follow all the projects and people from Greenpill episodes (tack on ReFi podcast, Crypto Altruists). Should have resources that make it incredibly easy for someone to find info about all the web3 public goods funding mechanisms that donors/projects can take part in from Octant/Gitcoin/Giveth to Artizen and Public Nouns/Vrbs. How to purchase/retire ecocredits and hypercerts and all the regen tokenomics like BREAD, USDGLO, Helios, ReFi Hub, Azos, TGN, James Magee’s Tales of Tasern, Regen Atlas, Ethic Hub, Change Code, etc. Obviously we’re incredibly aligned and supportive of Atlantis and their suite of apps, Gardens conviction voting and Karma GAP. Plus all the great books on greenpill.network can be expanded upon to create a deeper hub of information. We’d need to update greenpill.network, the Charmverse, the discord onboarding flow, manage some continuous light shining on twitter/farcaster, and batch share noteworthy stuff on the Network telegram and discord. Ideally we refine that system and then it also can be a useful education/news resource within individual Chapter channels as well. As usual, all of this is kinda tied into the RegenCoordination Local ReFi toolkit build out (and that is intimately connected to Knowledge Gardening which we need to learn more about from our friends at Open Civics).

We should definitely help people find their Greenpill Chapters/Guilds but should also help refer people to ReFi DAO local nodes, Bloom Network, Ma Earth, BioFi and Agroforest DAO, and the other Regen Coordination partners. Off the top of my head, GaiaAI and Community Host from the Dev Guild probably come into play here eventually. Utopia Map feels like a very relevant project which I’d love to learn more about. CivilMonkey’s aligned events telegram is gold and I’d love to aggregate that with another group of people who also make an effort to share cool digital and IRL event details, and Greenpill can allocate whatever an appropriate, if even way too small but sustainable amount of funds towards those efforts. Same goes for the entire system of initiatives and cells that people want to get behind. Feels very doable with Gardens signaling pools as long as we have primo documentation and financial accounting. We should dedicate a decent amount of bandwidth and capital to updating our onboarding process with the very wide scope. This previously created onboarding upgrade draft in the Writers Guild Charmverse has a lot of gems in it.

Governance weight is a big aspect to all of this. GreenWill is initially focused on capturing contributions within Greenpill Network and the Chapters/Guilds. But can build that out with any and all regenerative or broadly experiential onchain data. GreenWill is still super early in its development and we’re currently making a push to add Chapter/Guild contributors. Weighting inputs is pretty tough but will iterate. Can eventually add reputation earned from contributing to other Regen Coordination communities or whatever broad range you want to pull from like a circular loop with Prosperity Passport. Hard to say how that will play out. Main point is GreenWill tied to allow lists and voting weights in Gardens is a biggie. Please share any thoughts in the GreenWill channel in the Dev Guild Discord.

There should be at least a couple working groups that have public elections. Definitely think we need to spin up a Growth council focused on capital formation for the next couple months give or take. And then after the Gravity DAO cohort and SuperBenefitDAO processes conclude or reach a checkpoint we can adjust that cell structure and keep things rolling. Also believe there needs to be a working group that is focused on the financial accounting and DeFi strategy side of things. So a small working group decides what the budgets are in a transparent manner, but we can lean on a broad reputation system to dictate capital allocation weights/allowances that pair with whatever systems we have in place to track/measure efforts. At the bottom of this thread is an operational task list as well. I’m not sure what else would benefit as a working group vs having an individual that is in charge.

Compensation is a tough one as usual, but it doesn’t need to be perfect off the bat. As we outline and document things to death can figure out layers of compensation for specific tasks/roles possibly with both a base comp and partially tied to success metrics, and task board based contribution measurements. All in relation to the broader financial accounting that can ebb and flow based on the state of our treasury so that we don’t need to reinvent things as our financial state changes. Could see a structure mixing FlowState and Cookie Jars tied to some mix of GreenWill, Gardens Signaling pools and something like Colony.io/Coordinape/Collabberry. ReFi DAO has an interesting contribution points system we could get inspiration from. The good news is we’re aligned enough that people will hopefully be willing to press through the more uncertain early stages of this process and we can really accelerate things.

@lumina.envision For sure we should focus on creating alignment via revenue generating plans. Will be on a case by case basis. We just need to figure out how best to rally the troops around cool ideas and press forward with whatever joint processes we work out. Would absolutely love to see us explore DePin opportunities like Squad Staking and the Altruist Sensors Greenpill Phangan cooked up. There are probably some other very cool environmental data opportunities that we could setup globally as well

Pretty much a +1 to @Wasabi @atlantian001 and @SwiftEvo as well. Also shoutout the people who shared ideas on calls and in chats. Appreciate you all. Things are really starting to shift in the world and with EF leadership so a lot of doors may open up if we can execute and make the Greenpill meme into a functional hyperstructure.
