TL;DR

A three-tier structure is proposed to clarify roles, structure, and coordination pathways within the Regen Coordination ecosystem:

Leading Organizations & Coordination Council - Founding stewards providing strategic leadership and shared governance.
Coordination Partners - Cosmo-local networks and communities building regenerative economies on the ground.
Service Partners - Builders and public goods providers offering tools, infrastructure, and knowledge support.

Introduction

This proposal outlines a clarified working structure for Regen Coordination, aiming to better define the roles and enhancing our collective coordination.

At its core, Regen Coordination exists to serve, support, and connect regenerative web3 empowered networks across the globe. This includes those currently stewarding its development, as well as the broader ecosystem of community-led initiatives and enabling infrastructure. See Regen Coordination Mission & North Stars.

The structure proposed in this document is intended to help:

Recognize and support the Leading Organizations & Coordination Council that currently steward Regen Coordination’s vision and operations.
Empower and uplift Coordination Partners—aligned cosmo-local networks and regenerative communities advancing ecological, social, and economic transformation on the ground.
Curate and collaborate with Service Partners—the builders and public goods providers who are developing the leading tools, infrastructure, and support systems for the ecosystem.

Feedback, discussion, and refinement of this model is welcomed—including how groups are categorized, how new partners are onboarded, and how this structure might evolve over time. This is a living architecture—designed to remain flexible, participatory, and grounded in real-world coordination needs.

Leading Organizations

Celo Public Goods, ReFi DAO, and Greenpill Network are the founding and current Leading Organizations of Regen Coordination. These entities provide strategic vision, operational resources & capacity, and core coordination infrastructure for the ecosystem. Their work has shaped the foundation of Regen Coordination—from early pilots like ImpactQF and Ethereum Localism to the emergence of the Local ReFi Toolkit and Regen Coordination Forum.

To formalize collaborative governance between these founding organizations, Regen Coordination is steered by a Coordination Council—a multi-member body that acts as the core facilitation and governance layer of the network. This model draws some inspiration from traditional council-based governance models—such as Switzerland’s Federal Council—which emphasize distributed leadership, consensus-oriented strategy, and balanced regional representation. Rather than being governed by a single founder or foundation, Regen Coordination is structured as a polycentric council of trusted stewards from each of the leading organizations.

Proposal: Coordination Council v2

To support Regen Coordination’s continued evolution, a refreshed formation of the Coordination Council is proposed based on the active participation, contribution, and leadership demonstrated by individuals across the founding organizations since inception.

Each council member contributes to key governance functions, including:

Stewarding mission alignment and strategic direction
Overseeing ecosystem partnerships and program execution
Facilitating community participation and collective decision-making
Supporting network growth and the incubation of new regenerative initiatives

As the Regen Coordination ecosystem matures, additional organizations may be invited or elected as Leading Organizations, with corresponding representation on the Council. The exact criteria and process for this is TBD, but would likely include:

Demonstrated alignment with Regen Coordination’s mission and North Star outcomes
Organisational maturity and a track record of active participation and contribution
Capacity to contribute meaningful time, capital, or infrastructure

This structure aims to ensure that Regen Coordination remains a living system—responsive to new leadership, community shifts, and ecosystem evolution—while staying anchored in shared purpose and mutual accountability.

CoordiNATION Partners

At its heart, Regen Coordination exists to serve and support a constellation of regenerative networks—both global and local—that are actively building the next economy from the ground up.

This proposals names these as our Coordination Partners: cosmo-local organizations and communities deeply aligned with Regen Coordination’s mission and North Star outcomes. These partners are actively organizing regenerative initiatives across bioregions, ecosystems, and movement networks. Some may already be Regen Coordination Leading Organizations, while others operate independently—but all contribute to the shared goal of enabling ecological, social, and economic regeneration through open coordination and public goods.

Rather than centralizing control, Regen Coordination aims to serve, support, connect, curate, resource, and coordinate these networks—providing them with shared tools, infrastructure, funding mechanisms, and collaborative frameworks that help them thrive while supporting sovereignty at the local and network levels.

Who Are the Current Coordination Partners?

Coordination Partners include both global regenerative movements and their locally rooted community nodes. The following Coordination Partners have been identified based on their established relationships, past collaborations, and/or participation in previous Regen Coordination funding rounds (such as GG23), as well as through aligned ecosystems, shared values, and ongoing partnership development.

This list reflects the existing network of trusted collaborators that Regen Coordination seeks to actively support, connect, and grow alongside. It is not fixed or exhaustive—but a living reflection of the relationships already seeded. We will continue to invite, steward, and support Coordination Partners through ongoing programs and forums—while also creating space for them to self-organize and define the future of this ecosystem, together. Over time, Coordination Partners may develop deeper relationships with Regen Coordination—such as becoming co-creators in key initiatives, or even progressing toward Leading Organization status where mutually desired and aligned.

Service Partners

Service Partners are organizations actively building the tools, infrastructure, and public goods that enable regenerative communities to thrive. While Coordination Partners focus on organizing and stewarding bioregional networks and community building, Service Partners support them with the technical, narrative, financial, and operational knowledge, tools and systems they need to coordinate effectively and scale their impact.

These partners are essential enablers within the Regen Coordination ecosystem. By aligning their offerings with the needs of Coordination Partners and local regenerative communities, they help translate the promise of Web3 into tangible infrastructure for the regenerative economy.

Core Functions of Service Partners

Tooling & Infrastructure: Building open-source or interoperable software and systems for decentralized coordination, governance, value exchange, and impact tracking.
Capacity Support: Offering technical assistance, facilitation, design frameworks, and implementation support to help Coordination Partners deploy regenerative solutions effectively.
Knowledge & Research Public Goods: Producing open-access research, insights, data systems, learning resources, and methodological frameworks that help regenerative ecosystems make sense of complexity and act strategically.
Narrative & Visibility: Supporting storytelling, branding, and communications that help regenerative communities articulate their identities, attract resources, and grow support.
Financial Mechanisms: Designing and operating funding infrastructure—such as quadratic funding, retroactive public goods rewards, community credit pools, and local stablecoin systems—to resource regenerative action at scale.

Prosperity Pass – Onchain credentials, participation tracking, and reputation.
Regen Atlas – Mapping regenerative communities and projects globally.
Regenerative.fi – Research, analytics, and insights platform for ReFi.
Silvi – Tech-enabled reforestation and ecological impact campaigns.

Coordination Council Role

The Regen Coordination Council will steward an ongoing process of curating, supporting, and evaluating Service Partners to ensure:

Strong alignment with the needs of Coordination Partners.
High-quality, accessible, and interoperable solutions.
Ethical and regenerative design principles.
Transparency, accountability, and adaptability over time.

This includes:

Onboarding and Review: Establishing a formal process for adding new Service Partners to our curated service partners database.
Toolkit Integration: Developing adoption guides, templates, and implementation pathways for the Local ReFi Toolkit for relevant partner tools.
Pilot Support: Facilitating early adoption and testing of Service Partner tools within local networks.

Regen Coordination Forum Hub

The Regen Coordination Forum Hub (https://hub.regencoordination.xyz) serves as the digital commons for our ecosystem—an open coordination layer for public discourse, dialogue, learning, proposal development, and governance across the network.

Nested subcategories can be proposed for Coordination & Service Partners.

This forum architecture can also help foster convergence spaces, cross-network initiatives, and shared project incubators—encouraging a deeper sense of movement alignment and co-creation.

Strategic Intent

Providing dedicated spaces in the forum for these networks and partners is not just about visibility—it’s a key mechanism to increase synergy, cross-pollination, and network effects across the Regen Coordination ecosystem.

These spaces will help:

Enhance collaboration between local nodes, builders, and service providers.
Improve sensemaking by surfacing patterns, gaps, and opportunities across regions and domains.
Support opportunity development, matchmaking, and co-creation of regenerative infrastructure.
Build stronger collective intelligence, as conversations across initiatives become more accessible and visible to the broader ecosystem.

We propose to begin by inviting a few Coordination & Service Partners to establish a presence in the forum, with a light onboarding process and shared norms for engagement.

This proposal is intended as a living framework—one that reflects where Regen Coordination has come from, and where we hope to grow together.

By clarifying roles across Leading Organizations, Coordination Partners, and Service Partners, we aim to strengthen the infrastructure of trust, collaboration, and shared purpose that underpins this movement.

We invite feedback, discussion, and co-creation as we continue refining this structure. Whether you’re a regenerating community on the ground, a builder of open tools, or a steward of aligned ecosystems—there is a place for you in this shared network.

Hi all…grateful to be here as well as being new to this space. Just by way of relationality to my comments….I am joining here as a 35 year community organizer both in the US and for the last 25 in my adoptive country of Costa Rica where I currently reside. In addition to this…I and the initiatives I help to steward have formed relationships over the last 5 years with many of the coordination partners listed in the above document. So it is through these lenses and life ways that I share this feedback. And I want to just start by thanking each and all of you who contributed to the drafting of this document and all of the foundational work done to even bring this vision to the table…I am inspired daily by all of the amazing work being done globally and locally to bring us into coherence and alignment with life .

My main critique I feel it is useful to share with you regarding the roles proposal is that the world of crypto/web3/blockchain is for all intents and purposes illegible to the vast majority of people of place who are engaged in regenerative action. Even for those who sense the potential that this ecosystem offers regarding sovereignty, equity and values aligned affiliations…the obstacles to entry are significant. I just wonder if having only digitally native representatives in the leading organizations category can do anything to help erode this obstacle? How might we ensure that non-digitally native ways of accessing and using this infrastructure will be represented in decisions related to deployment of vision, tools and collaboration. It seems important to have representatives in shaping these priorities that have a diversity of worldviews. Just curious if this has been discussed within the development of this regen coordination model?
