GreenPill Phangan :herb::recycling_symbol::desert_island:

We have established a local chapter of GreenPill Network about a year ago and started our activity with onboarding events, called Regen Full Moon, in collaboration with ReFi Phangan.

GreenPill Phangan is dedicated to developing local regeneration infrastructure to enhance public good funding on Koh Phangan. One of our flagship initiatives is the establishment of the Phangan QF (Quadratic Funding) round, envisioned as a biannual event to support projects that deliver tangible impact for the island. With the support of ReFi Phangan in community and NGO onboarding, we successfully gathered $10,000 for our first round, planned for Q4 2024.

The goal involves significant onboarding work with local nonprofits and donors. While part of this has been accomplished, much remains to be done.

Cleanups

The birth of Decentralized Cleanup initiative at GreenPill Phangan Chapter as registration form with cleanup photo upload and Unlock Protocol certificate for the participation. Later, it has transcended to independent project with the rewards and dynamic NFT rewards - Decentralized Cleanup Network. Now, GreenPill Phangan have teamed up with local regens to conduct joint cleanups, working alongside the Decentralized Cleanup Network. These cleanups are a testament to our shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, removing significant amounts of waste from the island’s natural environments.

We organize in-person onboarding events and workshops aimed at introducing the local community, NGOs, and individuals to web3 technologies and regenerative finance principles. These events are crucial in building a foundation of knowledge and engagement, fostering a community that is actively involved in sustainable practices. We have held 6 events with morning part - presentations and pitches and evening dance with attempts to implement sustainable environmental principles such as “refill” and “recycle”. In March we celebrated our Anniversary together with ReFi Phangan and EcoSynthesisX.

Amazing job!

I’m really interested in the decentralized clean up from above. Is there a play book that the chapter has, so we can scale to other chapters. We are doing a similar thing in GP Nigeria, but specifically plastic. I would also consider a measurability tool for this initiative like the Impact miner by Atlantis DAO whom is a part of Greenpill India. @Rohit

What’s going on here on Phangan nowadays? Both stewards are now in Thailand time zone so we are trying to figure out how can we be more active at the community events from now on.

On May 22nd, we have successfully pulled off the Global Pizza Party in our favorite location on the island: Nashe Mesto. Though it’s not originally the pizzeria and we faced extra cost in renting their venue and delivering the pizzas over there, we didn’t regret this move even a bit because we received great support in organization, accepting payments in USDC, creating stickers and great content.

Event was 55% sponsored by ReFi Phangan and the rest by Pizza DAO & co (Base, World Champions Pizza). We are hoping for further reimbursement support from Pizza DAO.

SmokeDAO, our new island friends also joined the show and provided free joints for the visitors (disclaimer: weed is legalized in Thailand) so our guests enjoyed the double. And got hungry again quick after two pizza reloads so we brought more just to keep fun going, cause the flow of pizza on Global Pizza Day must not stop!

What else is new? We are in the process of spreading around 5 locations on the island our new toy: Air Quality Sensor Altruist by Robonomics Network - our first steps in exploring community driven air quality monitoring. More updates will be posted after we spread the sensors and instructions and provide installation support.
