Metachrysalis is growing quickly, and we’re looking forward to building in the open!
I’ll post more details here shortly, but a few links to start:
Our website is forming here: https://metachrysalis.org/
The underlying software is open sourced and under development here: GitHub - thaumazo/CommunityMycelium
For those wanting to learn how to play / gamemaster Metachrysalis and how to use that for Bioregional work in Regeneration, Resilience and Relief, you can join our community on the Design School for Regenerating Earth here: https://design-school-for-regenerating-earth.mn.co/plans/1922699?bundle_token=ff4403e42b6847c30b632c6122c1c9fe&utm_source=manual

Prep update: Metachrysalis Changemaker Community — Fraser Lowland (Round 01)
- Discord setup for participants is underway
- Our first draft picks for the 8 Adjudicators should be done by end of day, with 3 already confirmed
- Budget is refined (though I’m sure there’ll be a few minor changes as we go). We’re on track for the initially proposed scope, provided the exchange rate of USDC → CAD doesn’t fluctuate too much in the next while.
- Tooling for the online platform continues, with Character Sheets, Text-based Stories, Bioregional Challenges & basic Meeting functionality in place
- Materials for Applicants should be ready by end of weekend, and ready for submission for Google Ad grant
- Localized version of Metachrysalis cards done for Fraser Lowland. Additional polish on layout still underway before printing a few decks for use during the project.
- Initial channels for “Warm Applications” being defined, to help ensure a reasonable number of highly aligned applications.
- Great discussion with Andamio and some solid ideas on how we might work with them around delivery of on-chain aspects.

It’s been an amazing journey so far!
With 20 applicants, we’ve narrowed down to 8 intensive participants who had their Changemaker Profiles and Project Pages ready in time - which means that each one will receive funding. It’s an incredible group of people, and we’re definitely finding that the “Mycelial Mapping” approach that Metachrysalis affords is finding some deep potential synergies between members.
Real community feels like it’s getting build, interconnections between existing projects are already happening, and a couple of innovative new projects are underway.
By end of March we’ll have our 8 changemakers funded and they’ll each have a detailed story to tell around how those funds are going to be used. We’ll be continuing to work with and tell the story of each of the members of the community (the funded 8 and beyond) after the Localism deadline is done, so will be able to hopefully provide longitudinal data on the impacts from both funding AND critically, of non-financial support across 7 other types of resource.
Our Community Mycelium platform has also grown considerably now that it has users giving feedback. As March wraps up, I’ll be working to document the software better so that other folks can use it as desired.
Once the changemaker profiles and project pages are marked public, I’ll come back with details on the amazing folks and their work who are at the center of this burgeoning community!
