Through the support of the Localism Fund grant, ReFi Colombia has been able to expand its regenerative programs across Colombia, combining direct financial support, community activities, and Web3 onboarding.
The grant currently supports three main initiatives: the National Subsidies Program, the Local Nodes Grants Program, and the English Course Program.

National Subsidies Program
​​Thanks to the grant support, ReFi Colombia expanded its subsidy program to 61 active beneficiaries receiving weekly financial assistance, providing direct support to low income individuals while also introducing participants to blockchain-based financial tools.
The program aims to reach 200 beneficiaries, and its progress can be tracked through the program dashboard. Community members and supporters can also contribute to the initiative through the donations page, helping sustain and expand the program’s impact.
Local Nodes Grants Program
Through this initiative, ReFi Colombia launched a mini-grants round to support local nodes in organizing regenerative community activities and onboarding new people into Web3, with all activities documented in the ReFi Colombia community calendar.

These events created new opportunities for communities to engage with regenerative practices while learning about blockchain and Web3 tools.

POAP Distribution Across ReFi Colombia Activities
As part of the activities organized by ReFi Colombia and its local nodes, 9 POAPs (Proof of Attendance Protocol tokens) have been minted to recognize participation in community events related to regeneration and Web3 onboarding.
ReFi Cartagena issued five POAPs:

A fourth POAP will be created after the upcoming activity “Community Forest Regeneration: Native Species Nursery” scheduled for this Saturday.
ReFi MedellĂn issued one POAP:
- Sembrando Semillas de Futuro (Drop ID #226541): 20 collectors
Overall impact
Across all activities, the POAPs reached a total of 165 collectors, documenting participation in community events and Web3 onboarding experiences. All nine POAPs include Moments, preserving on-chain memories from each activity. The POAP with the highest number of collectors was “Conector del Futuro - After Office” with 29 participants.
ReFi Cartagena Activities (5)
This activity focused on supporting animals in the community by providing food and basic care. Participants also learned about the importance of animal welfare within regenerative ecosystems.
The event included a Web3 onboarding session, where participants were guided through creating their first digital wallet and claiming their first POAP as part of the program.
Participants joined a creative workshop where they learned about the principles of circular economy while building and customizing eco-friendly notebooks made from recycled materials.
The session also included conversations about how technology and Web3 tools can support recycling and regenerative practices plus the POAP minted.
This experience combined environmental education with hands-on restoration activities.
Participants explored mangrove ecosystems through a canoe tour, engaged in birdwatching, and received guidance from biologists from FundaciĂłn Mapache Colombia and Cartagena Biotours.
The activity included a mangrove planting session, a demonstration of traditional fishing practices, and community interaction in the natural environment, plus the POAP minted.
This informal gathering brought together community members to connect, share ideas, and discuss regeneration and technology in a relaxed environment.
Participants were introduced to Web3 concepts and received support in taking their first steps into the ecosystem, plus the POAP minted.
This interactive online workshop invited participants to reflect on and visualize the regenerative future they want to see in their city.
Using creative facilitation methods, attendees designed collective visions for local impact and explored how community action and technology can contribute to those goals, plus the POAP minted.
ReFi Amazonas Activities (4)
This activity brought together community members to plant native species in areas affected by deforestation, contributing directly to ecological restoration.
Participants prepared the soil, learned basic planting techniques, and explored how to produce organic compost using household waste. The event also included conversations about ecological regeneration and the protection of the Amazon rainforest, plus the POAP minted.
This activity took place at the Centro de Atención Especializado (CAE) – Operador Pedagógico Munay in Leticia, Amazonas.
Participants worked together to create and prepare a garden with native plants, fruit trees, and edible species within the center.
The workshop combined practical gardening with environmental education, promoting collaboration, wellbeing, and a stronger sense of territorial stewardship among participants, plus the POAP minted.
This gathering created a welcoming space for discussion around technology and regeneration.
Participants shared ideas while learning about the fundamentals of blockchain and Web3 in an accessible way. During the session, attendees created their first wallet and minted a POAP, which served as an on-chain certificate of participation.
This activity will take place this Saturday. During the event, participants will design and establish a community nursery for native tree species, including both timber and non-timber varieties.
Volunteers will collect seeds, learn germination techniques, and care for young seedlings. The workshop aims to strengthen local knowledge on ecological restoration and the propagation of native species.
The nursery will support future reforestation initiatives and environmental education efforts in the Amazon region, addressing the scarcity of native species needed for responsible and sustainable restoration projects.
ReFi MedellĂn
Although ReFi MedellĂn did not participate in the Local Nodes Grants Program, choosing instead to leave the opportunity open for other nodes, it continued contributing to the broader mission of ReFi Colombia through independent community activities.
On February 28, ReFi MedellĂn organized the event “Seeds of the Future: Creating and Regenerating in Manrique.”
During this activity, children and youth (ages 6 -16) from the Manrique community and their families gathered to explore how early education, technology, and purpose-driven finance can help regenerate their local environment.
Participants received educational notebooks designed to inspire positive habits and ideas, while families shared a space for learning, play, and community collaboration, plus the POAP minted.
English Course Program
The English Course Program is currently in preparation.
The team is organizing schedules, confirming teachers, and coordinating logistics in order to launch the course soon.
The program will provide English learning combined with Web3 onboarding, helping participants build skills that can connect them with opportunities in the global Web3 ecosystem.
