In response to ReFi DAO’s Local Nodes Activation Grants and fueled by the commitment of a small group of local environmental actors in Enugu, Nigeria, we are seeking support for a transformative green event, “Nature Day: Co-Creating a Regenerative Future”! This one-day event will also activate the ReFi Enugu Local Node comprising Node members, environmental enthusiasts, and Web3 beginners.
Our Local Node was inspired by a November 2024 Web3 educational event for young people under 14 held in Enugu, powered by ReFi The Hague and the Viable Community. While largely successful, the event exposed significant gaps in Web3 education and awareness of regenerative practices like tree planting and green space creation, which are critically needed in the region. This sparked conversations about deeper engagement, leading to the formation of the ReFi Enugu Local Node with technical and leadership support from ReFi The Hague. The 042 GreenFest event builds on this foundation, addressing the node’s challenges of limited resources and low local blockchain awareness to catalyze community-driven regenerative projects in Enugu.
