Treasury Proposal - Bake $BREAD

:cook: :bread: :green_circle: :bread:

Not sure if this fits under any of the 3 formal GIP types - Impact Initiatives, Protocol Amendment, Chapter/Guild Initiatives - Greenpill Improvement Proposal Template

Abstract - ReFi DAO turned into Regen Coordination in Bread Coop. So as a core part of Regen Coordination, Greenpill Network is now a part of Bread Coop :bread:  We should bake $BREAD with funds in the Greenpill Network treasury and help our community learn more about solidarity tools. The exact amount can be determined after more discussion but this proposal is to bake roughly 3,000 $BREAD and vote for Regen Coordination. (Each month long cycle 50% of the yield is distributed equally and 50% by democratic vote of $BREAD holders. See diagram below.)

Motivation - We need to determine the flows from Regen Coordination but this feels like a core piece of the sustainable funding puzzle. There is already a bunch of overlap across Bread Coop and Greenpill Network and we should forge deeper ties.

Rationale - We’re out here collaborating with friends to build more resilient structures to help people/communities coordinate better. Also Greenpill Network is rich in many capitals but financial capital isn’t one of them and we desperately need to make better use of our treasury to create funding flows.

Specifications - Just need to bake $BREAD. And vote every 30 day cycle Bread Voting

Timeline - Invite others to share their opinions in this thread. We can discuss it at the weekly Steward Sync and a-sync in the Steward TG. In a bit more than w week we can have a formal Snapshot poll (Don’t really have thresholds defined so as part of the initial discussion we can also agree upon the exact term of the vote). And after the Snapshot vote closes the treasury signers can process any necessary transactions.

No sure if I understand about it or not. We swap stable coin (DAI) into $BREAD, which is also a stable coin.

When baking BREAD, your xDAI gets automatically converted to sDAI in order to generate yield from the DAI savings rate. 100% of the interest earned on this sDAI is used to help fund the projects that exist within the Breadchain Network
Ref:
https://app.breadchain.xyz/

According to Bread Voting
The interest rate of DAI is 5.76%.

And here is AAVE DAI interest rate
3.44% on Gnosis chain

4.34% on OP chain

According to Bread voting, there is Regen Coordination. There is no Greenpill. So if we bake, parf of the interest generate (according to the governance, ( it should be 16.87% ) will go into Regen Coordination.

May i ask how many % will be used into Greenpill or if there is a formular on how to ditribute between Regen Coordination?

May i know what is the amount of other Regen friends will bake $BREAD? do we have the communication on it. Or Is only Greenpill within Regen Coordination baking $BREAD?

I agree on the engagement, just also like to know how to distribute when Regen Coordination receive the funding. Thanks

Don’t have any concrete plans. Will add it to the agenda for the Friday Regen Coordination Council call and we can discuss on the Monday Greenpill Stewards sync too. But yeah I agree and that feels like the most important question right now.

The vote can always change but roughly 16% of the estimated $2085ish monthly distribution (which is calculated with the DAO savings rate and the give-or-take $445,000 Bread in circulation) is over $325 to Regen Coordination per month. I believe whatever split gets worked out will benefit Greenpill more than enough for the $3000 or so in funds we can bake Bread with. Plus we would be supporting all the other members of the Coop.

Hypothetically if we have a coordination breakdown and Greenpill Stewards are unhappy about the terms we could go through governance to un-bake Bread.

ReFi DAO has over 4000 $BREAD I believe

Had those conversations. Short/Medium term plan is to use the $BREAD distribution to fund Regen Coordination Council operations.

Feel really strongly that we need to get perpetual funding streams for Chapters/Local Nodes and the Stewards themselves. There are other plans brewing with ImpactStake.com and Octant Vaults which could skew in that direction. But tbd on all capital formation/allocation flows to an extent.

Also feels like we need to see how Regen Commons plays out to get a better feel for Regen Coordination’s longer term plans and operational setup.

Think we need to define what quorum is and what % of votes are needed from Greenpill Stewards for something like this proposal to pass. Can setup a Snapshot poll as soon as we have clarity there.

Slight change of plans. Lot of big funding requirements are up in the air, especially this Greenpill Garden Season that will take place over the next 3-4ish months, big post with details will be posted in the hub soon. And the Greenpill Nigeria and Greenpill Brasil local funding rounds through localism.fund.

Still want to start working our way to roughly 3-4k BREAD as soon as we have some more financial clarity. That would put us in a similar range as other members of the Coop from an organizational perspective. But right now let’s bake 100 to get on the board and have more Stewards experience the process of baking and voting. Can even do it on a weekly Steward Sync quick.

Check out the recent Bread Cooperative <> Regen Coordination announcement if you haven’t seen it already. Solid resource to relay to our communities, thanks again to @luizfernando for writing it up.

Bread Coop also recently hosted a workshop, will share the recording here in case anybody stumbles into this thread down the line.
