Greenpill Garden - Season One

Within Greenpill, we are coordinating an innovative program that encompasses not just financial, but also social, cultural, material, living, spiritual, experiential, and intellectual capital. We’ve observed over the past couple of years that merely allocating financial resources to Stewards doesn’t help them establish the deep local and global roots needed for sustainability and growth. By focusing on teaching, support, and on-ground coordination, regenerative initiatives will be better equipped to grow locally as they develop their strategy, funding structure, impact reporting framework, and other protocols aligned with their objectives.

Theory of Change

If local based regenerative initiatives are connected to a multitude of capitals, financial, living, social, intellectual, cultural and material with a focus on environmental and civic engagement then local regenerative initiatives will be equipped to establish deep roots in their communities and attract sustainable capital. Because when we support one another it builds trust, understanding and respect for each other, our communities and our ecosystem.

Outcomes

  • Determine clear Network identity, protocols and structure for members, Stewards, Pods, Chapters and Guilds.

  • Increase community awareness and engagement in regenerative Ethereum initiatives.

  • Stewards establish connections and partnerships with local governments, NGOs, or non-profits within the selected areas of focus (living, social, financial, material, intellectual, spiritual).

  • Secure local contracts and service agreements to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the local initiatives and adoption of Ethereum.

  • Successfully onboard individuals into the Ethereum ecosystem and grow their onchain footprint.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Greenpill Steward (All active, inactive and those who previously applied to start a Chapter) or highly aligned individuals that are invited to the Season

  • Complete program intake form by November 20th.

The Greenpill Steward initiative offers an alternative to requiring Stewards to have a Chapter or Guild. Many regens already belong to existing communities, may be nomadic, or lack the resources to establish a Chapter, yet they remain deeply aligned with the Greenpill ethos. This new approach makes Greenpill more accessible to all regens, fostering greater shared learning and knowledge creation.

Season One

The program will guide Stewards through strategies for their role related to the Greenpill Garden Theory of Change, mapping it to the Forms of Capital, concrete CIDS activities and outcomes, and finally to the Ethereum tooling that best supports their goals.

Simultaneously, the program will assist Stewards in establishing their operational infrastructure, with a focus on Ethereum DeFi/staking infrastructure and establishing an onchain impact reporting framework.

0. Good Strategy, Theory of Change & Sensemaking

To set a strong foundation, Chapters and local initiatives will ground themselves in the Greenpill Garden Theory of Change (ToC). This grounding will help them understand and clearly articulate the effects and outcomes they are looking to achieve within their community. Theory of Change is a proven methodology, employed by organizations like the UNDP, to ensure that regenerative initiatives are strategically aligned with and effectively contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Building on this understanding, Stewards will then center on developing a strategy that best aligns with their skills and purpose, providing the clarity needed to effectively tackle their local issues.

Finally, to close this phase, Stewards will center themselves on the 8 forms of capital. These different forms offer a more holistic way to look at capital, moving beyond purely financial terms. Stewards will identify 3-4 of their core capitals and articulate how their strategy connects to each. This phase of the program will also serve to highlight similarities in capitals across local initiatives, allowing for the identification of commonalities and potential shared resources as we move into establishing the Structure and Protocols for collaboration.

1. Structure & Protocols

After developing a clear strategy to tackle their local initiative’s problem and defining an identity consistent with the Greenpill philosophy, Stewards move into the next critical phase: establishing the initiative’s Structure and Protocols.

The Structure phase is dedicated to outlining the organizational relationships and roles within the initiative, much like the branches, roots, and leaves of a tree. In contrast, the Protocols phase focuses on the mechanisms for how these defined roles will communicate, resolve issues, solve challenges and coordinate efforts to achieve optimal balance and flow.

Given that this phase overlaps with the holidays, Stewards will be assigned async tasks to reflect and ideate on the best organizational structure for their initiative heading into 2026.

This approach provides a minimal financial capital infrastructure while the initiatives’ roots are still developing. Stewards will utilize the Web3 tools best suited to complete their outcomes and capture data on-chain.

The midpoint of this phase is marked by ETHDenver, an ideal space for an in-person progress check-in, real-world tool implementation, and collaborative learning to build improvements. Closing Words

The Greenpill Steward Season is more than a program; it is an invitation to grow a living, regenerative network rooted in many forms of capital, not just financial. By grounding Stewards in a clear theory of change, coherent strategy, resilient structures and protocols, CIDS-aligned activities, and a practical Web3 regenerative stack, we are creating the conditions for local initiatives to take deep root in their communities while plugging into a global, onchain ecosystem of support. From DevConnect to ETHDenver and beyond, this Season will transform abstract regenerative ideals into concrete practices, agreements, and impact data that can be shared, iterated on, and scaled.

With the collaboration of Operators, Service Providers, Sponsors, and Stewards, Greenpill Gardens becomes a commons for shared learning, civic and ecological engagement, and Ethereum-native public goods experimentation. The outcomes of Season One, including a refined network identity, stronger local infrastructures, CIDS-compliant impact reporting, and durable relationships across regions, will seed future Seasons that are more accessible, more coordinated, and more capable of attracting sustainable capital. By supporting this initiative, you are helping regens everywhere move from fragile projects to rooted, interdependent ecosystems, growing a garden that season after season enriches our communities, our bioregions, and the Ethereum commons.

how much $$ is currently in treasury?

Depending on the market since we’re ETH heavy 16-24k

I’ll share with you a survey we’ve been doing in the Network to pool funds across the Chapters and Guild to support the garden and other initiatives.

Hi everyone :seedling:

Over the past months, the Garden Season has been unfolding through a series of workshops, conversations, and experiments across the network. Some have been deeply involved, others observing from a distance, and some are only now tuning in. This is simply to situate where we are and what’s coming next.

The first part of the season focused on sharpening how we think. Durgadas (through GravityDAO) facilitated two strategy workshops and individual feedback sessions on worksheets. The emphasis wasn’t on producing finished strategies, but on strengthening diagnosis: understanding trade-offs, distinguishing outputs from outcomes, clarifying what is actually leverage versus noise.

In parallel, Superbenefit hosted a session touching on cell structures and questions of “state” and coordination. It didn’t define a model, but it opened space to reflect on how initiatives relate internally and how structure can either enable or constrain flow.

We also had conversations intersecting with MetaGov / OpenGrants around DAO-IP thinking and integration possibilities. Nothing finalized there — but useful signals around governance interfaces, scope clarity, and what responsible integration would require.

What has emerged so far is not a finalized design. It’s a clearer shared language and sharper questions.

Now we’re entering the final phase of this season.

In the first week of March, Glocal VR will host the Regenerative Resources Protocol workshop, introducing the ReRe vision. This includes exploring cybernetic layers (web1, web2, web2.5, web3), trajectories of political economy from extractive to regenerative systems, and what it means to operate from a regenerative logic rather than simply a “less bad” one. The intention isn’t to adopt a new framework wholesale, but to deepen our awareness of the systemic layers we’re operating within.

After that workshop, we’ll move into a Regen Reservoir inventory process. This will be a structured mapping of network offers, needs, demands, and opportunities. Making visible what already exists across chapters and stewards: skills, relationships, infrastructures, intentions.

No mechanism.

Just clarity.

From there, the invitation becomes ongoing: a continuous call to commoning — in practice. What do we already have? What can be shared? Where are the gaps? Where is coordination actually useful?

For those who haven’t participated directly but would like to follow along or step in mid-stream, we’ve compiled a living Garden Guide with recordings, worksheets, and context here:

The intention is for this document to keep evolving and to serve both current and future chapters. If useful, it could even support local nodes beyond GreenPill.

We’ll share more details about how the inventory will work on the upcoming call.

If you’ve been participating, feel free to add your perspective here so the evolution stays visible in one place.

See you soon :seedling:
